Sutton Charity (formerly known as Sutton Poors Land Charity)

The Charity formed in 1872 leasing land and distributing the income from the rent to the people of the Parish for the relief of hardship and to provide educational assistance for those seeking to improve their education. The charity owns and manages approx 100 acres of land including the old recreation ground, allotments at Lawn Lane and in The Row. The board is made up of Trustees who work to a Governing Scheme and seek to help those who have suffered a reduction in quality of life. This may be due to redundancy, sudden illness or unforeseen circumstances. The Charity can help with subsidised transport, training, educational support as well as direct financial assistance. The Charity makes donations to groups as well as individuals.
